Whether you’re looking for a way to keep fit, you want to work off those few extra pounds or you’re strengthening up after an injury, exercise bikes are the perfect inclusion to your routine. Still don’t believe us? We have shared 8 of the best reasons to jump on a bike the next time you’re at the gym.
1. Weight Loss & Improved Fitness
You can use a bike to help you reach your weight loss and fitness goals, as cycling helps to burn a lot of calories and improve the health of your heart and lungs. It also raises your heart rate into the zones most appropriate for weight loss and fitness.
2. Prevention of Training Too Hard
One of the most common mistakes that people make when they first start exercising is training too hard. This can lead to injury and often causes people to quit, as they feel it’s all too hard. As bikes give you the ability to regulate your speed, you can avoid this problem.
3. Make Adjustments as Fitness Improves
As the speed and resistance of exercise bikes can be adjusted in small increments, they are perfect for training at increasingly higher intensities (once you’ve built a basic level of fitness). Cycling can become a little harder or easier at the push of a button.
4. Ability to be Used at Any Time
One of the main benefits of bikes is that they can be used anytime – day or night, hot or cold, rain or shine. As many of us lead fairly hectic lives, being able to exercise when it suits you is very important. Who wants to go cycling outside late at night or in winter?
5. Make Maximum Use of Your Time
Another benefit of using a bike is that you can do other things whilst cycling, such as catching up on your favorite television program, listening to music or reading a magazine. This can also make the workout feel much shorter and even easier.

6. Suitable for All Ages
People of all ages can use exercise bikes to get their daily dose of exercise, from teenagers all the way through to the elderly. This is a piece of equipment that you can familiarize yourself with when you’re young and continue to use right up until you can’t exercise anymore.
7. Simulate Riding Uphill
As you can adjust the resistance, you have the ability to simulate flat ground and uphill cycling. At the touch of a button, you can begin climbing a gentle or steep incline – this will increase your heart rate and burn more calories for every minute that you cycle.
8. Shapely Thighs, Calves & Butt
Many of us would kill for more shapely thighs and calves or a tighter buttocks. The good news is that this goal is achievable with the inclusion of bikes in your workout, as the cycling motion targets these areas specifically. Ensure you look great all year round.
We hope that the information provided in this article has convinced you that exercise bikes are the way to go when it comes to health and fitness. Regardless of whether you prefer the upright or recumbent style, incorporating a bike into your regular workout will offer you a number of benefits.

An exercise bike is good for me only in that I have never been able to rider a REAL bike well. I grew up not enjoying bike riding because of stray dogs or living in areas where it wasn’t safe. I’m terrified of riding in the street and I tend to fall off from time to time, eliciting drama from neighbors (“Oh look, the old lady fell off her bike”) I would also suggest the ARC trainer if one is near a Planet Fitness (cheap fee) or can buy one (not cheap) I use the latter.
Hi Mary,
What city or state was it where there were stray dogs around?
