Common Health Issues & Symptoms

You Shouldn’t Ignore

Tiredness and low energy

Of course, some major illnesses and pain can make you feel tired. But sometimes minor issues can cause you to feel tired and have no energy at all. This will be in the instance where you feel physically drained. Mentally exhausted as well as struggling to sleep. The tiredness can feel heavy on you.

So, what does it mean?

It can be the cause of celiac disease or anemia. But most commonly tiredness and low energy levels is a big symptom of depression and anxiety. Those heightened feelings can pump adrenaline around the body and cause you to feel physically and mentally exhausted. Depression and low mood can also make you feel sad and helpless. It can often last for a few days, but in some severe cases of depression the feeling may not subside. It can stop you from falling asleep because you are worrying about things, and your mind won’t be switching off. Another problem tiredness is linked to is Anxiety. This is where adrenaline is pumped around your body surrounding the situation you are feeling anxious about. This can then make you feel tired as you come down from your anxious period.

Often anxiety and depression can be treated one of two ways. You can be prescribed medication to help deal with the ongoing symptoms. Or take on something called Cognitive Behavioral therapy. This is a talking therapy which enables you to tackle the triggers that cause the anxiety and the depression. Providing you with mental tools to deal with it in the future.

Feeling thirsty and urinating often

Do you constantly feel like you need to drink water? Is it something that has recently occurred? Often a thirst can go unnoticed especially during the summer. You can feel like feeling thirsty could be an automatic response to weather or your surroundings. However, you may notice more that you are urinating often, which goes hand in hand with drinking more.

What does it mean?

This might be down to dehydration and can even occur during pregnancy. But it’s also a common symptom of diabetes. Diabetes is a lifelong condition that causes someone’s sugar levels to be too high. There are two types of diabetes. Type 2 is the most common. This is where the body doesn’t produce enough of the hormone called insulin to tackle the sugar levels. If diabetes is left untreated it can get progressively worse. This is why sometimes it’s worth heading to your doctors. You can find out more here about some of the other symptoms.

Diabetes can be treated in different ways. Sometimes it can be managed through a change in lifestyle. This means taking care of your diet and the food you eat. Also exercising regularly has been known to help. However, in other cases medication is needed. Metformin is what many doctors prescribe in the first instance. It controls the amount of glucose released into your bloodstream from your liver. Once prescribed this medication you can buy metformin online.

Visible blood when there shouldn’t be

It can be worrying if we head to the toilet and see blood. Either on the toilet paper or in the toilet bowl. It can be alarming. It’s one of those things that many people can become embarrassed about, so this tends to be a symptom that gets ignored the most.

What does it mean?

It can be something completely minor. Often when it is a bright red color that would suggest that the bleed has happened close to the anus. Which could mean an anal fissure or hemorrhoids. However, in some cases it can be a symptom of bowel cancer. Which is why it should never be ignored.

How do we fix it?

Often after an examination your doctor should be able to tell if there is something visible that has caused it. However, if you are aged over 40 and show signs of other symptoms then you may be referred to a specialist. This may be a worry, but it’s also a good thing as early detection means that on many occasions this cancer can be removed.
