With its friendly immigration policies, multicultural and multi-ethnic society, and the great education standards, Canada deserves every bit of its status as one of the top four international study destinations in the world. However, unlike other popular study destinations, such as the US, the UK and Australia, Canada does not offer too many international scholarships at the undergraduate level. A bit of diligence, however, will reveal a few excellent programs that you can take advantage of, though, and this article will save you that bit of diligence.

Ergo, here are some international undergraduate student scholarships that you can take advantage of if you want to study in Canada:

Humber College International Entrance Scholarships

Humber College offers scholarships to international students that cover full and partial tuition. These scholarships are renewable when classes begin in September and January every year. Those applying will be considered based on academics, reference letters, statement of interest essays, and involvement in the community. Students will be eligible for renewal of scholarship if they are able to maintain a GPA of a minimum of 70% at the time of renewal.

York University International Student Scholarship Program

The University of York offers scholarships to international students with an excellent academic record who have received admission into the university for a four-year undergraduate degree program. These scholarships, ranging from $60,000 to $100,000 fall under the banners of the Global Leader of Tomorrow Scholarships, United World College Scholarships, and International Entrance Scholarships.

University of British Columbia Scholarships for International Students

UBC provides $8 million Canadian every year in financial assistance for international students enrolled in its undergraduate programs. International Leader of Tomorrow Award Scholarships allow UBC to attract talented students from around the world based on academic ability, passion, references, community engagement and a statement of interest. Other awards it offers are the International Student Humanitarian Award, the Outstanding International Student Award, and the President’s Entrance Scholarships.

Carleton University Entrance Scholarships for International Students

Carleton offers partial scholarships tenable in the Fall/Winter session of the year, ranging from $4,000 to $16,000 to students with exemplary records. Students must be enrolled in the a four-year full-time undergraduate program at Carleton, and meet the admission average criteria of 80% and above, to be eligible.

Vancouver Island University offers several scholarships and awards to new and continuing students based on both academic performance and need.
